Benjamin Dewey
… is known for his detail-rich art, absurdist humor and affirming nature towards others. Accurately rendered animals and lush environments are frequently cited as the best aspects of his work by his peers.
He grew up in Cleveland, Ohio shadowing his wonderful father, who served as director of public programming, at the Cleveland Museum Of Art. He went on to graduate from the Cleveland Institute of art in 2004 with a BFA in Painting. Ben was an active member of Helioscope Studio (from 2008 until 2015) where he studied under several well known figures in contemporary sequential art. He’s been subsequently afforded an emeritus role with that most excellent group!
Guitars, Science, car-free spaces, blues music, comics and games where you get to roll real dice are things he loves a lot. Ben’s personal work is a fusion of victorian aesthetics, puzzle mechanics, craft in service of communication and the increasingly distant memory of what childhood joy felt like.
Ben now lives in Milwaukie, Oregon with his lovely wife, adorable son and a very old (but still handsome) cat named Gadoo. His current guitar collection includes, roughly, thirty five instruments. He serves on the city’s arts committee as the Vice Chair.
Past clients include: Marvel, DC comics, IDW, Boom, Oni press, Dynamite, Dark Horse, Image, Nike, Adidas, The San Fransisco Giants, Steam/Valve, Ea/Respawn and many more.
